Delaware County Council proclaimed September as History Month to create awareness of our County’s rich history and to celebrate our accomplishments! The goal is to bring together the people of Delaware County for a sparkling month of diverse historical, educational and cultural events throughout the County and conclude with an exciting CELEBRATION on September 29 (rain date October 6) to interact with each other as we enjoy a morning tour for motorcycles and family cars of historic sites with DCHS’s Ride for History and then a CELEBRATION of all that is unique in Delaware County to be held in Rose Tree Park from noon to 5 PM!
A calendar of events will be published and publicized of September activities across the entire County (send listings of Events to Keith Lockhart firstname.lastname@example.org).
A free opening “Bell Ringer Event” is planned for September 1, 2013, at noon in conjunction with the Chichester Historical Society’s Community Day with exhibits, hay rides and a display of dairy equipment at Furey Road Field, Furey Road,Upper Chichester.
Finally, a large,fun filled CELEBRATION will be held at Rose Tree Park on September 29 (rain date October 6)!
The CELEBRATION will begin with the Delaware County Historical Society’s 2nd Annual RIDE FOR HISTORY for family cars and motorcycles from 9 AM through to noon. Participants will tour historic sites starting from 1241 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford and end the Rose Tree Park CELEBRATION. PASSPORT TO HISTORY® students will gather passport stamps for awards. Over $1,000 in prizes and gifts will be awarded to participating riders. Pre‐registration is available till 9/22. Information at 610 359 0832 or on our website.
Noon to 5 PM the CELEBRATION will be open at Rose Tree Park with sparkling entertainment in the amphitheater, a display of antique cars and antique motorcycles, an international food court, a multitude of vendors plus a participatory Native American Presentation with music, vendors and dancing!
To register for: 10′ x 10′ non‐profit vendor spaces with electric or 10′ x 10′ exhibit spaces $25.00. 10′ x 10′ for‐profit vendor spaces with electric or 10′ x 10′ exhibit spaces $75.00.
